Yes, They Cannes.

Feathers not ruffled over our lost invitations to Cannes, we saw it fitting to then strongly judge the attendees based on their looks. Unfortunately for us, everyone killed it and this is simply an editorial acknowledgement of said sartorial for a few notes about the jewels.

I think it’s about not being afraid to try something new.

It was about as obvious as a lab created emerald that Chopard was sponsoring the Cannes Film Festival. In addition to the bevy of beauties wearing gems from the storied house, there were all the typical major players hitting the red carpet. Ya know, Bulgari, Cartier, Di Grosogono? Call us crazy, but after what is shaping up to be an incredible COUTURE show in a couple of weeks, we would love to see some more independent designers represented on red carpets.  For example, check out our interview today with Eugenie Niarchos. How killer would Venyx look at the Oscars next season? Or a major stack of Victor Velyan cuffs with some Lydia Courteille chandeliers? Nikos Koulis' new 'Oui' collection of diamonds is dying for some award show love and we will be waiting for their debut like we wait for our checks to clear every month to buy jewels, er, pay rent.
